Echocardiography (ECHO): an ultrasound examination of the heart

Cardiovascular diseases are one of the most serious public health problems not only worldwide, but also in Latvia.

As statistical data show, cardiovascular diseases and their complications are one of the most common causes of death in Latvia. And it is precisely preventive health screenings, the timely diagnosis of various specific symptoms, and the performance of necessary examinations that are the key factors determining how successful the subsequent course of treatment will be, as well as the patient’s future quality of life.

Echocardiography, or echocardiogram (also known as Doppler echocardiography or echocardioscopy) is an ultrasound examination of the heart.

At the Adoria Health and Beauty Center, we invite both adults and children of all ages to undergo echocardiography examinations. The examinations are performed by cardiologist Asnāte Ošāne, a highly skilled echocardiography specialist.

At the Adoria Health and Beauty Center, patients are offered quick appointment scheduling, and the doctor consults with patients in Latvian, Russian, and English. Echocardiograms for children are performed starting from birth.

An echocardiogram should be performed if you have:

• Pain in the chest area
• Heart murmurs
• Shortness of breath
• Complaints about heart rhythm
• Bluish discoloration of the skin and mucous membranes
• History of chemotherapy
• Reduced exercise tolerance
• If the child frequently suffers from bronchitis or asthma
• High blood pressure
• Congenital heart defects
• Patients with diabetes
